Plasma cutting is a process that cuts through electrically conductive materials such as carbon steel and stainless steel with an accelerated jet of hot plasma. This is accomplished by a compressed gas which is blown through a focused nozzle at high speed toward the workpiece. Plasma cutting was originally developed as an alternative to the CNC Oxy-Gas cutting method to cut materials.
